Bio
Ana de Góngora is a visual artist whose practice focuses on the transformation of matter and the instability of form. Her work occupies an intermediate space between appearance and disappearance, where color constructs suspended environments and structures that seem to hold a latent energy.
She holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid. Prior to fully dedicating her practice to painting, she developed an extensive career in graphic design and industrial furniture design, which informs her sensitivity to space, proportion, and formal tension.
Her work is currently represented by Alfa Gallery in Miami and New York, and she has recently begun collaborating with Helarea Gallery, marking a new phase centered on pictorial research.
She lives and works in Madrid.
Statement
My work explores the transformation of matter and the instability of form, inhabiting a space between appearance and disappearance. Through painting, I construct suspended environments where color operates as both structure and atmosphere, generating a sense of latent energy.
In a context defined by visual saturation and the constant consumption of digital images, my practice positions itself as a gesture of resistance. It seeks to reduce noise and reclaim slowness, material presence, and the physical experience of looking.
Working through layers, density, and repetition, I develop compositions that negotiate balance and gravity. The surface becomes a field of tension, where forms emerge and dissolve, suggesting states rather than fixed images.
